Select and clean your mold.
Clean your mold with alcohol and a paper towel.
Make your chips.
*Skip this step if not using the chip method!
Decide which colors of chips you’d like to make. You will need one mixing cup/color. Use the pigments (start with one or two drops) to dye your resin mixture. PUT MEASUREMENTS HERE. Mix your resin mixture and spread out in a thin layer onto your plastic sheet. Spread with a popsicle stick. Let the mixture dry 10-15 minutes. Once this is dry, crumble this into chips. Set aside.
Mix and pour your resin.
Mix your resin with water and stir with a popsicle stick until the mixture is smooth and you have incorporated all of the powder. If you are dying your resin, add your dye now, 1-2 drops. If using chips, stir in your chips. Once everything is fully incorporated, pour this into your mold!
Set and demold.
Once your resin is pour, smooth everything out to make sure there is an even surface. Agitate the sides of the mold to release any air bubbles. Now, let is set! This might take 15-20 minutes. Once it is hard and set, you can demold. Carefully peel the sides away to remove.
Sand it.
Take your highest grit sandpaper. Wet your item with a small amount of water and sand with the sandpaper. Sand until you are happy with the look. Take the next sandpaper and continue buffing.
Seal it.
If you are sealing your item with the wax compound to make water-tight, take a small microfiber cloth and buff onto your item in a circular motion. Use a small amount each time until you are happy with the cover.
Make it stand out.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
